Oprah is an attention whore. How much more exposure does she need? This is the thing is, though, Wes. There is a different market for your podcast than for the "stars". The benefit that y'all have over the new celebrity crush, is that some of you have already built up your audience over the years (yes, I realize you just started). Granted, you may not get the audience Oprah will get, but your target audience will be different as well. The other side to that coin, is Oprah is going to be bringing a whole new crowd of people to the ITunes and turning them on to podcasts. And, as I did, I'm sure the new people getting turned on to podcasts for the very first time will learn there are a whole bunch of different podcasts out there and check some of the new ones out. So you MIGHT just benefit! The way I found ALL the podcasts I listen to are from A) listening to other podcasts and On the ITunes page for each of your shows, I followed the link "Others who enjoyed this podcast also listen to...".
Love that you blanked on the "call-in shows"! That was classic! That will be one of my new all-time favorite podcasting memories!

Yes, that hottie with the nice ass. That was a nice picture. I bet he's cute in the front too. I can't believe that guy farted at the urinal! He should save that for the stall.
Sounds like you concentrate on things happening in the bathroom a bit much...just teasing.
Good luck with the run. I'm sure you'll do well and your legs won't fail you.
I agree with Kim....you should post a picture of you in that shirt and one without the shirt. Reply to this

You made a very good point about gaining attention by being on iTunes, and apparently 5-star reviews and new subscribers somehow combine to put you there. My podcast has rarely been on the top 100 podcasts, yet it's been on the front "Featured Podcasts" page in the Personal Journals category for weeks and weeks. Even so, the percentage of listeners who get my podcast through iTunes has been dropping in recent weeks.
I think (F)reddy has a really good point, too; it hadn't occurred to me that Oprah might actually drive new traffic to the iTunes Store where they might, possibly, find our podcasts. Most of our new listeners are probably people who already listen to podcasts, so if some of her listeners take a chance on us, so much the better.
But I still think I'd prefer that corporate media and independent media be separate. I doubt very much that people who are into Oprah will listen to me, but people who listen to "Live It Up" just might (or so iTunes tells me). If the corporate media drive all the GLBT podcasts onto lower pages among featured podcasts, their listeners are less likely to ever see us, anyway.
I was really surprised that you didn't know why the flies were following you around. Don't you know that flies are attracted to anything that's sweet? Reply to this
